Hi, I’m Aaron Matthews — a passionate amateur historian and living history enthusiast with over a decade of experience bringing the past to life.
Since discovering my love for history and heritage at the age of 11, I’ve immersed myself in the study and interpretation of local and social history, particularly focusing on working-class lives through the centuries. I started reenacting in 2014, portraying periods from the Georgian/Regency, Victorian, and Edwardian eras, through to the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, with a strong emphasis on World War Two.
I also have a strong interest in heritage crafts—especially clay tobacco pipe making—as well as music, photography, railway history. I’ve volunteered with a number of organisations including museums and heritage railways, gaining hands-on experience in preserving and interpreting historical narratives for the public.
Whether I’m donning period attire, recreating historic skills, or diving into research, I’m committed to keeping history tangible, relatable, and alive.
